Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, B Prebble, the rider of DANEFACTOR, expressed concern with the horse's action. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was stiff in the right front leg and was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DANEFACTOR. Before being allowed to race again, DANEFACTOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FORTUNE LAD and PLEASANT JOURNEY were slow to begin. TO SIR WITH LOVE, which was standing with its head turned to the left when the gates opened, began awkwardly and lost ground. Making the turn at the 1200 Metres, FRIENDS FOREVER was carried wider by FORTUNE LAD which when proving difficult to settle shifted away from the heels of BEST EVER. At the 600 Metres, NATURAL MODEL, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of ASIA STAR. Shortly after straightening, TO SIR WITH LOVE was steadied and shifted out after being disappointed for running inside ASIA STAR which was carried in slightly by FORTUNE ALL TIMES. After the 200 Metres, TO SIR WITH LOVE was again steadied when disappointed for running between ASIA STAR which was giving ground and SWAGGIE which shifted in. For some distance after the 200 Metres, FORTUNE LAD had difficulty improving between BEST EVER and PLEASANT JOURNEY and near the 100 Metres was steadied away from the heels of PLEASANT JOURNEY. For the major part of the race, PLEASANT JOURNEY raced wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the improved performance of the winner, FORTUNE ALL TIMES, Mr C H Yip, trainer of the horse, pointed out the horse's last two runs had been at Sha Tin. He said the two runs prior to those had been at Happy Valley and in his opinion the horse had shown itself to perform better when racing at this course. He said FORTUNE ALL TIMES usually became very fractious and sweated up prior its races and particularly after being transported to Happy Valley from the Sha Tin stable. He said because of this today FORTUNE ALL TIMES was transported from Sha Tin to Happy Valley in a single horse float and the horse appeared far more settled and did not sweat up as it usually does prior to tonight's race. He added the horse was benefited by the 10 pound weight allowance of its apprentice rider and prior to tonight's race the connections of the horse were advised accordingly, however, he was surprised that FORTUNE ALL TIMES was able to win. BEST EVER and ASIA STAR were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BEST EVER and ASIA STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. CAPABEL, FORTUNE ALL TIMES and JUST VICTORY were sent for sampling.
