Racing Incident Report
FIGS and PRINCE GOLF were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, PARADIS and CAPITALAND bumped. Also shortly after the start, GALLANT FALCON was checked when crowded for room between LUCKY STALLION and LUCKY DANSKE which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. As a consequence, GALLANT FALCON lost ground and was then shifted across behind runners to a position on the rail but with the rear. After the 800 Metres, DIAMOND ERA was steadied when crowded for room between GALLANT FALCON which shifted out slightly and LUCKY STALLION which shifted in slightly when awkwardly placed inside the heels of EVER SUCCESS. Near the 600 Metres, FIGS was momentarily crowded for room between PARADIS and WIN AGAIN which got its head on the side and shifted in away from LUCKY DANSKE. Prior to straightening, WIN AGAIN became unbalanced when crowded for room between LUCKY DANSKE which shifted in slightly and PARADIS which at this time shifted to the outside of CAPITALAND. Near the 300 Metres, GALLANT FALCON was steadied when crowded for room inside CAPITALAND which momentarily shifted in. Then after the 200 Metres, GALLANT FALCON was again momentarily steadied and shifted to the outside of PARADIS to continue going forward. Near the 200 Metres, WIN AGAIN was steadied and shifted to the inside of SUPER CHARGE which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, PICTURE PERFECT hung out. Throughout the race, PRINCE GOLF raced wide and without cover. F Coetzee (LUCKY DANSKE) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position but not to make use of it to do so. He said at LUCKY DANSKE's most recent start the horse led and he had to make some use of it to do so. He said on that occasion MR COOL sat outside him and LUCKY DANSKE did not relax and consequently did not close the race off. He said previously LUCKY DANSKE had performed well when sitting outside the leader and it was anticipated with blinkers on PICTURE PERFECT would lead. He said after beginning well from the outside barrier he initially rode along to go forward, however, LUCKY DANSKE got its head on the side and shifted in. He said he therefore straightened and allowed the horse to continue on and cross to race outside SMART CHAMPION which was proving difficult to settle for its apprentice rider. He said in his opinion for him to have endeavoured to go forward and clear SMART CHAMPION would have required him to make too much use of LUCKY DANSKE and having in mind the manner in which SMART CHAMPION was travelling, that horse most probably would have travelled forward with him. He said at the 1000 Metres he endeavoured to obtain a position with cover behind SMART CHAMPION, however, he had runners to his inside and was unable to shift in, as a consequence he continued to race in a four wide position without cover. He said prior to straightening he momentarily got cover behind SMART CHAMPION, then in the Straight LUCKY DANSKE closed the race off strongly. PICTURE PERFECT and LUCKY DANSKE were sent for sampling.
