Racing Incident Report
ONE EYE JACK began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. HARRY HARRY, which was standing with its head turned to the right, began awkwardly. SPARKLE also began awkwardly. BEST CHOICE was slow to begin. BLAZING MISSILE was slow to begin, then trailed the field throughout and finished tailed out. BLAZING MISSILE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BLAZING MISSILE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of BLAZING MISSILE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BLAZING MISSILE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the 800 Metres, SPARKLE was steadied away from the heels of VITAL PATROL which itself was steadied away from the heels of ENAMELLED. Shortly after straightening, VITAL PATROL was steadied when disappointed for running between CHING HOI BOY and HARRY HARRY. For some distance after this, VITAL PATROL continued to be steadied away from the heels of CHING HOI BOY. Near the 100 Metres, Apprentice M W Leung (BEST CHOICE) dropped his whip. In the Straight, CHING HOI BOY hung in, over the concluding stages hung in badly and near the winning post raced tight outside CHARIOT OF WEI HAI. Because of this, CHING HOI BOY was not ridden out right to the winning post as it normally would be. F Coetzee (BULLISH GENERAL) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said overall BULLISH GENERAL's work leading into today's race had been good, however, its last gallop had in his opinion been only fair. He said he was surprised BULLISH GENERAL did not show enough speed to lead the race and because of this he gradually shifted across to race outside BRAVE COMMANDER and sat in second place. He said prior to straightening BULLISH GENERAL was under pressure to hold its position and in the Straight gave ground. BULLISH GENERAL was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, BULLISH GENERAL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. The performance of BULLISH GENERAL was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BULLISH GENERAL will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HARRY HARRY and VITAL PATROL were sent for sampling.
