Racing Incident Report

FLASH HARRY began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped MEDIC LEGION and then blundered. Shortly after this, FLASH HARRY, which was then carried out by MEDIC LEGION, bumped FIGHT BACK which on jumping blundered and shifted in. A-TACK and ZHI YOU SPIRIT were a little slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, SPEEDY EXPRESS was steadied away from the heels of UNIVERSAL PIONEER. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, BEAMING RIVER, which was racing wide and without cover, hung in. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, ATHLETIC GOLD was reluctant to hold its position between ZHI YOU SPIRIT and FLASH HARRY. Near the 400 Metres, ATHLETIC GOLD was steadied when disappointed for running between BEAMING RIVER and FLASH HARRY. For some distance after the 400 Metres, DEVON FLAIR had difficulty obtaining clear running between AFRICAN FOREST and THUNDER STORM. From shortly after the 400 Metres until about the 150 Metres, STOIC was held up and unable to obtain clear running, then when obtaining a run between THUNDER STORM and ZHI YOU SPIRIT bumped the hindquarters of THUNDER STORM and became unbalanced. THUNDER STORM also became unbalanced behind. UNIVERSAL PIONEER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, UNIVERSAL PIONEER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. A-TACK, FLASH HARRY and LIVERBIRD were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported FIGHT BACK was making an abnormal breathing noise and he said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be an early "roarer".
