Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, HAPPY ALL AROUND bounded in the air and lost ground. FRIENDSHIP began awkwardly, hit the inside gate of its stall and then shortly afterwards became unbalanced when crowded for room between FLYING EAGLE and GIFTED RUNNER. GLORY YEARS was slow to begin. At the 450 Metres, CHAMPION WINNER was carried wider by FRIENDSHIP which got its head on the side and shifted out away from GLORY YEARS. G Mossé (DR HAENSLER) said in his opinion despite having won a trial leading into today's race the horse's work in the morning had been only fair. He said DR HAENSLER began well, was immediately able to cross to the fence into the lead, however, when challenged after the 600 Metres failed to respond to his riding. He was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the horse. DR HAENSLER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, DR HAENSLER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DR HAENSLER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GRAND COMMANDS and PIONERO were sent for sampling.
