Racing Incident Report
ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. SPARKY got its head up on jumping and lost ground. WIKI WIKI, which was fractious in the barriers, was a little slow to begin, was then ridden along to go forward and failed to muster speed. Shortly after the start, STRAWBERRY KISSES was steadied to avoid the heels of SPEEDY EXPRESS which shifted in. Also shortly after the start, DILIGENT was steadied when crowded for room between HELENE ELEGANCE and TIGER RIDGE. Approaching the 1000 Metres, HELENE ELEGANCE, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of TIGER RIDGE (D Dunn) which shifted in when not properly clear. D Dunn was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. After this, HELENE ELEGANCE continued to prove difficult to settle for some distance. Near the 1000 Metres, DANHERO was steadied away from the heels of TIGER RIDGE which shifted in when only just clear. SIR OCTAVIUS made the turn after the 1000 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and carried WIKI WIKI wider on the track. Near the 800 Metres, WIKI WIKI shifted in and bumped ENGINEERING WONDER. At the same time, KING OF WIN was steadied away from the heels of DANHERO. After the 600 Metres, WIKI WIKI got its head on the side and hung out. In the early part of the Straight, TAKING THE LEAD hung in. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied the riding of DILIGENT over the concluding stages did not affect its placing, D Holland was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post wherever possible. SPEEDY EXPRESS, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. ENGINEERING WONDER, SIR OCTAVIUS and TIGER RIDGE were sent for sampling.
