Racing Incident Report
FLASH MAC began awkwardly, then shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between WINNING ATTORNEY which shifted out and ROYAL VICTORY which was carried in by LIGHTING THE WORLD. FOREVER CHARMING and SMILEY WIN began awkwardly. From the outside gate, with the intention to be ridden quietly, GOLD MASTER was steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1100 Metres, STAR OF NORTHERN was steadied away from the heels of SILVER JET. After the 1100 Metres, WINNING ATTORNEY was momentarily crowded for room between SAVINGS ACCOUNT and ROYAL VICTORY. Near the 1000 Metres, MR GENKI was momentarily steadied away from the heels of HEALTHY HEART which shifted in when only just clear. MR GENKI made the turn after the 1000 Metres awkwardly and hung out, then hung out again making the Home Turn. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, GOLD MASTER was steadied away from the heels of FOREVER CHARMING which at this time shifted out away from the heels of SILVER JET. In the middle stages, FOREVER CHARMING raced ungenerously and on a number of occasions got its head up when close to the heels of SILVER JET. On straightening, SILVER JET was bumped by SMILEY WIN which shifted to the outside of ROYAL VICTORY into clear running. After the 200 Metres, SILVER JET was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SMILEY WIN. C Soumillon (ROYAL VICTORY) said he had been advised by Mr J Moore, trainer of the horse, prior to the race that on previous occasions when racing without cover ROYAL VICTORY had over-raced and as a consequence failed to finish its races off. He said he was asked to ensure ROYAL VICTORY had cover, was well relaxed and did not over-race. He said ROYAL VICTORY began well, made the turn near the 1000 Metres awkwardly and was travelling comfortably behind HEALTHY HEART. He said near the 800 Metres he was close to the heels of HEALTHY HEART and steadied away from that horse and as this happened MR GENKI went forward on his outside. He said because ROYAL VICTORY was settled, he was reluctant to ride it along to hold MR GENKI in a three wide position as he felt ROYAL VICTORY might commence to over-race. Mr J Moore, trainer of ROYAL VICTORY, confirmed the riding instructions issued to C Soumillon and pointed out ROYAL VICTORY was having its first start at Happy Valley tonight. He said he specifically asked C Soumillon to ensure the horse was properly balanced throughout. C Soumillon was told his explanation would be reported, however, he was to ensure that he rode at all times in a manner which left no room for question. GOLD MASTER, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GOLD MASTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had bled from both nostrils. MR GENKI, LIGHTING THE WORLD and HEALTHY HEART were sent for sampling.
