Racing Incident Report
VICTORY MARBLE began awkwardly, then shifted out abruptly across the running of KONRAD THE GREAT which was checked. VICTORY MARBLE then continued to shift out and bumped ASSET PLAY. DIAMOND ERA began awkwardly. FREEBIRD, which was leaning on the side of the gates, was slow to begin and lost ground at the start. WIN FOR ALL was a little slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, FREEBIRD became unbalanced when racing to the inside of CITI CENTRE. In the early stages, SMART HORSE was obliged to race wide. Passing the 1200 Metres, INSIDE MAIL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ARMONDO. Passing the 1100 Metres, VICTORY MARBLE was steadied and shifted out across the heels of ASSET PLAY (S Dye) which shifted in when not clear. S Dye was advised to ensure he is two lengths clear before shifting ground in future. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, INSIDE MAIL lay in, made contact with the running rail and became badly unbalanced. D Dunn (INSIDE MAIL) was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race wherever possible. When questioned regarding the performance of WIN FOR ALL, which was having its first run at Happy Valley, D Whyte, its rider, stated the horse was never really comfortable in the run. He said WIN FOR ALL did not relax in the Back Straight and was inclined to over-race, getting close to the heels of GOOD TRIO. He said WIN FOR ALL did not make the Home Turn well and then in the Straight hung in badly. He added although WIN FOR ALL was momentarily crowded for room near the 100 Metres between SEASONS TREASURE and INSIDE MAIL, both of which shifted ground, this was of no consequence to its performance. WIN FOR ALL was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of WIN FOR ALL after the race did not show any significant findings. SEASONS TREASURE and ARMONDO were sent for sampling.
