Racing Incident Report
Whilst in Parade Ring, SUPER KID shifted its left front plate. The horse was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said it was suitable to race. STAY YOUNG proved difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, STAY YOUNG will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. FIREBOLT began awkwardly and was then crowded for room between TOWN OF FIONN and PRIME WITNESS. CHEERFUL FORTUNE was slow to begin, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of ANABATIK. On jumping, GRAND DELIGHT bounded in the air. From the outside gate, TOWN OF FIONN raced wide and without cover. Shortly after the start, FIREBOLT was again crowded for room between PRIME WITNESS and TOWN OF FIONN which at this time shifted in. Also shortly after the start, CHEERFUL FORTUNE was crowded for room between ANABATIK and PLANET RULER. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, ANABATIK brushed the running rail when tightened for room inside CHEERFUL FORTUNE which at this time got its head on the side and shifted ground. After the 400 Metres, ANABATIK was steadied away from the heels of CHEERFUL FORTUNE which momentarily shifted in. After the 300 Metres, FIREBOLT was crowded for room between TIBER and SUPER KID. At the 100 Metres, PLANET RULER, which was closing the race off, was steadied when disappointed for running between GRAND DELIGHT and TOWN OF FIONN which shifted in. After this, PLANET RULER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOWN OF FIONN and was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. When questioned regarding the improved performance of MULTIDANDY today, Mr A S Cruz, trainer of the horse, said at its last run of the season the horse led and then over the concluding stages gave ground. He pointed out MULTIDANDY does have a history of unsoundness. He said as a result of that run and the subsequent work the horse's fitness has improved. ANABATIK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ANABATIK after the race did not show any significant findings. TOWN OF FIONN, MULTIDANDY and THE DUKE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that TIBER had bled from both nostrils.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 1 November 2004)
ANABATIK, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. ANABATIK was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer J Moore yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a sore right eye. Before being allowed to race again, ANABATIK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
