Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, C Williams, the rider of NOBLE VICTORY, which had been fractious in its preliminary, was examined by the Club's doctor who said in his opinion he was fit to fulfil his riding engagement. FUNNY FACE began very awkwardly, shifted out, bumped the hindquarters of GOLDEN PROMISE and was then checked. As a consequence, FUNNY FACE lost a significant amount of ground. GRASS HOPPER was a little slow to begin, shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between GOLDEN PROMISE and FAIRWAY FINDER which shifted in. At this time, FAIRWAY FINDER became badly unbalanced behind. CHAMP DE UNION and TURF GOLD began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the turn at the 600 Metres, TURF GOLD got its head on the side and hung in away from CHAMP DE UNION, then after the 600 Metres shifted in away from that horse and caused some inconvenience to GRASS HOPPER racing on its inside which as a result was not able to maintain its position. Over the concluding stages, TURF GOLD got its head on the side and hung in. After the 100 Metres, GOLDEN FARM became unbalanced and brushed the running rail. D Whyte (ZABEBE) was advised against the practice of making a celebratory gesture well before the winning post. GRASS HOPPER, ZABEBE and CHOICE AND CHANCE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted WIN DANCER had lost its right front plate. Also after the race, it was noted GOLDEN PROMISE had sustained a superficial graze to its right hind pastern.
