Racing Incident Report
GOLDEN MILE began awkwardly. MIGHTY POWER, with the intention to be ridden in a rearward position, got its head up on jumping, SOLINUS bounded in the air at the start. SPOKESMAN was slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, FLASH MAC was checked to avoid the heels of ELVIS which itself was steadied at this time. Making the turn after the 800 Metres and into the Home Straight, MIGHTY POWER hung out. At the 600 Metres, ELVIS became unbalanced when buffeted between SPOKESMAN and LUCKY MASTER. Making the Home Turn, ARIGATO was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE MAPLE. After the 400 Metres, LEUNG'S FAVOURITE, which was giving ground quickly, was momentarily unbalanced when awkwardly placed outside the heels of FORTUNE MAPLE which was shifting out to obtain clear running. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, SPOKESMAN was unable to obtain clear running between FLASH MAC on its outside and LUCKY MASTER. After the 100 Metres, ARIGATO was momentarily steadied and shifted to the inside of PEACH BLOSSOM to obtain clear running. After the 50 Metres, WELL EXPRESS was shifted out away from the heels of PEACH BLOSSOM which shifted out slightly. For the major part of the race, LUCKY MASTER raced wide and without cover. A Starke (WELL EXPRESS), 4th placegetter, was reminded of his responsibility to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race wherever possible. SPOKESMAN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, SPOKESMAN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPOKESMAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LEUNG'S FAVOURITE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, it was reported that LEUNG'S FAVOURITE had bled from both nostrils. PEACH BLOSSOM and FORTUNE MAPLE were sent for sampling.
