Racing Incident Report
SPECTACULAR HIT was slow to begin and then began awkwardly. FUJI SUNRISE was slow to begin, then made contact with CHINESE KID which began awkwardly and got its head up ALAKAZAM began awkwardly, shifted in and inconvenienced MYSTIC FORCE. On jumping, MEMBERS GLORY got its head up. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, MONZA KING was checked when crowded for room between TUSITALA which at this time shifted out to relieve crowding to CHINESE KID on its inside and KING OF THE TURF which was carried in by SHOW BRAVELY (T Mundry) which shifted in when not clear. Whilst the Stewards accepted TUSITALIA had contributed to this incident, they nonetheless severely reprimanded T Mundry and told him in similar circumstances he should ensure he is clear of other runners before shifting ground. At the 200 Metres, BROWN BEAUTY was steadied and shifted to the outside of TUSITALA into clear running. R Fradd (BROWN BEAUTY) explained the horse did not stride out as it normally did on today's surface and in the Straight was inclined to hang in. He said in his opinion BROWN BEAUTY is better suited to a track with more give in it than that of today's. F Coetzee (MYSTIC FORCE) said he rode the horse in a rearward position as is normal. He said MYSTIC FORCE never travels on the bridle and again today the horse was off the bridle throughout the race. He said early in the Straight when he endeavoured to improve his position, MYSTIC FORCE did not respond as he anticipated, however, over the concluding stages did close the race off nicely. He said in his opinion MYSTIC FORCE would be better suited on a track with more give in it than that of today's and also may appreciate racing over shorter distances in quicker run races. BROWN BEAUTY and MYSTIC FORCE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BROWN BEAUTY and MYSTIC FORCE after the race did not show any significant findings. FUJI SUNRISE and MASTER MARAUDER were sent for sampling.
