Racing Incident Report
ABORIGINAL was withdrawn on 1.10.04 on veterinary grounds (significant blood in trachea after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SUNRISE RAINBOW (O Doleuze). Before being allowed to race again, ABORIGINAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. UPPA HAND was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between SUNRISE RAINBOW and KING OF TURBOT, both of which shifted ground. BULLISH KID, which was to be ridden in a rearward position from its wide gate today, got it head up on jumping. SAND DANCE began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was crowded for room inside HORSE AROUND which was carried in slightly by ISLAND SPIRIT. In the early stages, SAND DANCE hung in, near the 1100 Metres momentarily shifted ground and caused some crowding to GOLD MASTER. Making the turn near the 800 Metres, TOP HEALTH was steadied when awkwardly placed inside SAND DANCE which was hanging in. After the 800 Metres, TOP HEALTH was checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of SAND DANCE which again got its head on the side and shifted in. No action was taken. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, GOLD MASTER hung out. This caused inconvenience to UPPA HAND which near the 700 Metres was carried wider and was checked away from the hindquarters of ISLAND SPIRIT. Making the Home Turn, HORSE AROUND and FANTASTIC HORSE hung out. Near the 300 Metres, GOLD MASTER was crowded for room between UPPA HAND which was hanging in and SUNRISE RAINBOW which was shifting to the outside of ISLAND SPIRIT into clear running. No action was taken. After this, UPPA HAND and GOLD MASTER were carried wider by SUNRISE RAINBOW which shifted further. Also near the 300 Metres, TOP HEALTH was shifted to the outside of SAND DANCE to obtain clear running. Near the 200 Metres, BULLISH KID was steadied and shifted to the outside of UPPA HAND to obtain clear running. SAND DANCE and HORSE AROUND were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SAND DANCE after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, HORSE AROUND was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise, an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea and further the horse had a laceration to the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, HORSE AROUND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HIP HIP HOORAY and DRAGON STRIDE were sent for sampling.
