Racing Incident Report
TURF GOLD began awkwardly. DANDY BUNNY and ENAMELLED were slow to begin. GOLD MASTER began awkwardly and got its head up. On jumping, FAIRWAY FINDER stumbled. KING OF GAROUPA was slow to begin and was then checked to avoid the heels of GIFTED RUNNER which on jumping shifted in. From a gate towards the outside, on jumping ISLAND SPIRIT was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain a position with cover. At the 1200 Metres, GIFTED RUNNER was unable to maintain its position when racing tight between TURF GOLD and HARVEST. In the early stages, TURF GOLD proved very difficult to settle and when the tempo steadied approaching the 800 Metres was awkwardly placed behind FAIRWAY FINDER, then making the turn at the 800 Metres shifted out away from the heels of that runner and in doing so caused some inconvenience to HARVEST and WISDOM EXPRESS which were carried wider. Some inconvenience was also caused to KING OF GAROUPA which was following. After the 300 Metres, ENAMELLED was steadied away from the heels of KING OF GAROUPA when racing tight inside NATIVE LANGUAGE. Near the 100 Metres, KING OF GAROUPA was steadied to avoid the heels of NATIVE LANGUAGE which got its head on the side and was shifting in when being ridden out. Shortly after this, NATIVE LANGUAGE, which was continuing to shift ground, bumped WISDOM EXPRESS. Y T Cheng (WISDOM EXPRESS) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in 4th or 5th position. He said he was able to obtain this position and be three wide with cover in the early stages, however, as a result of being carried wider making the turn at the 800 Metres, he was then left racing without cover. He said after this WISDOM EXPRESS commenced to over-race, he therefore allowed it to continue on into a forward position after the 600 Metres. He added in the Straight WISDOM EXPRESS then hung in. TURF GOLD was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of TURF GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY POWER and KING ERIE were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, LUCKY POWER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise and was distressed. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of KING ERIE after the race did not show any significant findings. NATIVE LANGUAGE and ASSET PLAY were sent for sampling.
