Racing Incident Report
GOOD LAD, second Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 11.6.04 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore). Before being permitted to race again, GOOD LAD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Just prior to the start being effected, GOLDEN DRAGON became fractious, lay against the inside partition of its stall, then on jumping bounded in the air and began awkwardly, as a consequence of this lost ground. After this, GOLDEN DRAGON was ridden along to improve its position, however, was obliged to race wide and without cover, then in the Straight gave ground. Following the race, D Whyte (GOLDEN DRAGON) reported the horse in his opinion had "choked down" in running. GOLDEN DRAGON was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, GOLDEN DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN DRAGON will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. X-SPEED bounded in the air at the start. After the 1000 Metres, NEW MILESTONE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of MAJIN BUU which shifted in when only just clear. Near the 800 Metres, BULLISH KID was steadied when crowded for room inside WIN HUNTER which had its head on the side and was laying in away from MAJIN BUU which itself was carried in slightly by DOUCAI (T Mundry) which shifted in when not properly clear. The Stewards were of the opinion that WIN HUNTER had contributed to this incident by laying in, however, T Mundry was reprimanded and told he should ensure he is properly clear of other runners prior to shifting ground. Shortly after straightening, KEEN FLYER and DOUCAI brushed when DOUCAI got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. Then over about the final 50 Metres, KEEN FLYER raced tight inside DOUCAI which was continuing to lay in. In the early part of the Straight, NOBLE VICTORY got its head on the side, hung out and shifted wider on the track. WIN HUNTER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, WIN HUNTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was mildly lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, WIN HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NEW MILESTONE, DOUCAI and KEEN FLYER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported DO IT WELL had bled from both nostrils.
