Racing Incident Report

PLEASANT SUCCESS, which was restless in the stalls, began awkwardly and threw its head about. HEALTHY HEART bounded in the air at the start and bumped the outside gate of its stall. STAMINA was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between PEACH BLOSSOM and WISDOM EXPRESS which was carried out by ETERNAL START. In this incident, crowding was also caused to WISDOM EXPRESS. FOREVER CHARMING was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SMILEY WIN was bumped by MUNDAHISH which got its head on the side and shifted in away from NEWSWIRE. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, MUNDAHISH, which had its head on the side and was laying in, shifted some ground, clipped the heels of STAMINA which itself got its head up and shifted out slightly. As a result of this incident, MUNDAHISH blundered. The occurrence in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. Also making the turn near the 1000 Metres, HEALTHY HEART, which had been hard ridden to make ground, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of PEACH BLOSSOM which momentarily shifted in. No action was taken. For a considerable distance in the middle stages, FOREVER CHARMING, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPERSONIC. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, HEALTHY HEART bumped the running rail. After the 600 Metres, PEACH BLOSSOM was momentarily crowded for room inside NEWSWIRE. At the 400 Metres, FOREVER CHARMING got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SUPERSONIC. After this, FOREVER CHARMING shifted to the outside of SUPERSONIC and on straightening again became unbalanced. Near the 250 Metres, WISDOM EXPRESS was steadied and shifted to the outside of PEACH BLOSSOM, then passing the 200 Metres improved into a narrow run between that horse and WELL EXPRESS. Apprentice P H Lo (MUNDAHISH) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position, however, the horse was fractious after being boxed, then despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed and as a consequence got well back. MUNDAHISH was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of MUNDAHISH after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPERSONIC and WISDOM EXPRESS were sent for sampling.
