Racing Incident Report
GOT IT RIGHT was withdrawn on 18.5.04 on veterinary grounds (left fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TAIJI SPIRIT (A Delpech). Before being allowed to race again, GOT IT RIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ALWAYS ZIETEN began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of LASER GLORY. On jumping, STAR OF NORTHERN and HORACE'S HORSE bumped. TAIJI SPIRIT was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, KING OF THE TURF became unbalanced as a result of being bumped on its hindquarters by VIPER CORP which shifted in after being bumped by KINGSTON GLORY. In the early stages, MONEY STRONG and KINGSTON GLORY proved difficult to settle. Near the 600 Metres, MONEY STRONG and TAIJI SPIRIT raced tight inside KINGSTON GLORY which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. VIPER CORP, which was following MONEY STRONG, was inconvenienced in consequence. From shortly after straightening until near the 200 Metres, MONEY STRONG was held up on the heels of STAR OF NORTHERN. Near the 100 Metres, VIPER CORP was steadied when disappointed for running between STOIC and KINGSTON GLORY which shifted out slightly. In the Straight, HORACE'S HORSE was inclined to lay out. Just prior to the winning post, LASER GLORY was checked to avoid the heels of ALWAYS ZIETEN (Y T Cheng) which when being ridden out got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. Y T Cheng was told whilst he did stop riding and straighten his mount, in similar circumstances he would be expected to do so sooner than he did on this occasion. When questioned, G Schofield (JUST VICTORY) said he had been instructed to go forward on the horse and if the pace was slow to lead. He said JUST VICTORY was standing awkwardly in the gates and did not begin well, he then rode along to go forward, however, the horse did not muster speed as quickly as he would have liked and as a result he was not able to clear TAIJI SPIRIT which had drawn to his inside. He said TAIJI SPIRIT remained racing away from other runners for some distance and gradually shifted across to find a position with cover behind HORACE'S HORSE after passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said as a result of this he shifted across to race in a four wide position without cover. He said after the 1200 Metres despite the pace being steadied, JUST VICTORY did not give him the feel that it would be able to go forward and lead, he therefore endeavoured to find a position behind HORACE'S HORSE and in front of TAIJI SPIRIT with cover, however, he was not able to do so. He said then after entering the Back Straight he again rode along to clear TAIJI SPIRIT, go forward of that horse and shift across to race three wide as HORACE'S HORSE moved across to join the leader. He said throughout the race JUST VICTORY did not stride out as he thought it should and over the concluding stages gave ground. JUST VICTORY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, JUST VICTORY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was lame in the left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, JUST VICTORY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MONEY STRONG, ALWAYS ZIETEN and LASER GLORY were sent for sampling.
