Racing Incident Report

DOUBLE DIP was withdrawn on 15.5.04 on veterinary grounds (injury to the left vein during routine treatment) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MAJOR BEE (Apprentice K H Chan). Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE DIP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ABLE EAGLE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. When the gates opened, HOLY QUEST bounded in the air, lost a little ground and then despite being hard ridden to go forward failed to muster speed and consequently got well back. DEVON ELITE was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between MAJOR BEE and AMAZING VICTORY which shifted in after making contact with NOBLE HERO which in turn shifted ground after being bumped by ASSET PLAY. In the early stages, REWARD got its head on the side and hung in away from JOYFUL MASTER. Making the turn at the 700 Metres until after straightening, NOBLE HERO hung out badly. In the Straight, AMAZING VICTORY got its head on the side and hung out. Throughout the race, JOYFUL MASTER raced wide and without cover. HOLY QUEST and ASSET PLAY were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, HOLY QUEST was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise which was previously reported as a mild "roarer". A veterinary examination of ASSET PLAY after the race did not show any significant findings. AMAZING VICTORY and HELENE PILLAGING were sent for sampling.
