Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, GALLANT FALCON which had kicked the rail in the Parade Ring was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. When the gates opened, BAUHINIA sprawled and lost ground. Then shortly after this, BODACIOUS and BAUHINIA were carried wider by LEGIONNAIRE which shifted out. PURPLE GOLD began awkwardly, got its head up, then shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between JOY AND TREASURE and CLEAN SWEEP which shifted in. Near the 1200 Metres, PHOENIX FORTUNE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of CLEAN SWEEP which was carried in slightly by GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. Near the 800 Metres, LEGIONNAIRE was steadied and shifted in to a position behind SHINING LIGHT with cover. Shortly after this, LEGIONNAIRE was reluctant to hold its position on the outside of MAN ON THE MOON and consequently lost ground. In the early part of the Straight, MAN ON THE MOON got its head on the side and hung in and for some distance was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SHINING LIGHT. After the 300 Metres, F Coetzee (GALLANT FALCON) dropped his whip. Over the concluding stages, NIGHT NINJA got its head on the side and hung out. Throughout the race, BODACIOUS raced wide and without cover. MAN ON THE MOON was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of MAN ON THE MOON after the race did not show any significant findings. GREAT ACHIEVEMENT and PHOENIX FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
