Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, FLYING SPRINTER bounded in the air. EASY GAME was slow to begin. GOLD FIELD, which was to be ridden in a rearward position from its wide gate tonight was immediately taken back across behind runners to race at the rear but on the rail. THE FACULTY which from the outside gate was also to be ridden quietly tonight, after beginning well was restrained and shifted across behind runners to race with the rear. Shortly after straightening, GOLD FIELD, which was starting to close the race off, was steadied and shifted to the outside of EASY GAME to continue going forward. Near the winning post, EASY GAME was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of COUNTRY DRAGON and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. In the Straight when giving ground, FLYING SPRINTER hung in. Also in the Straight, MYSTIC FORCE hung in. Throughout the race, THE RICH MAN raced wide and without cover, in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed off. H K Yim (FLYING SPRINTER), which performed poorly, explained the horse which was having its first start at Happy Valley appeared unbalanced, particularly on the turns and in his opinion did not handle the track. He added the manner in which FLYING SPRINTER gave ground in the Straight indicated it did not run out the 1650 Metres of tonight's race at its first time of asking. FLYING SPRINTER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FLYING SPRINTER after the race did not show any significant findings. MYSTIC FORCE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, MYSTIC FORCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, MYSTIC FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AHEAD A HEAD and DOLPHIN STAR were sent for sampling.
