Racing Incident Report

HAPPY TOGETHER, WIN FOR ABALONE, SEASONS TREASURE and GOOD HEART were slow to begin. STRATEGUS began awkwardly. ROYAL ARMY was a little slow to begin and then shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of ONLY YOU which shifted out. Near the 1500 Metres, WIN FOR ABALONE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of UPBEAT. Near the 1300 Metres, HAPPY TOGETHER and WIN FOR ABALONE were steadied when crowded for room inside STRATEGUS which itself was crowded when being ridden along to maintain a position inside CIRCUIT KINGDOM (A Marcus) which at this time was shifting in slightly. In the circumstances, A Marcus was reprimanded and told to exercise more care. After the 1000 Metres, HAPPY TOGETHER and WIN FOR ABALONE became unbalanced as a result of HAPPY TOGETHER being bumped by WIN FOR ABALONE. In the middle stages, OPERATION HUMOUR raced ungenerously and near the 600 Metres hung out and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of WISE CHOICE. Making the Home Turn, STRATEGUS, which had been racing wide and without cover, hung out. Near the 200 Metres, FOREVER WIN and ONLY YOU were checked when crowded for room between HAPPY TOGETHER which initially shifted out slightly and then was turned further outwards as a result of contact on its hindquarters from ONLY YOU and STRATEGUS which initially got it head on the side and shifted in away from ROYAL ARMY which was hanging in and then was carried in further by that horse which shifted ground. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After the 200 Metres, STRATEGUS, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of ROYAL ARMY which shifted ground while hanging in badly. ROYAL ARMY continued to hang in in the run to the winning post and proved difficult to ride when racing tight outside SEASONS TREASURE. The performances of WIN FOR ABALONE and OPERATION HUMOUR, both of which finished tailed off, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WIN FOR ABALONE and OPERATION HUMOUR will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. STRATEGUS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, STRATEGUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, STRATEGUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. UPBEAT, MILLENNIUM SPIRIT and CIRCUIT KINGDOM were sent for sampling.
