Racing Incident Report
HAPPY MOMENTUM began awkwardly, got its head up and lost a significant amount of ground at the start. OUT OF MY WAY was slow to begin. At the 1100 Metres, CHEERFUL HEART was steadied when crowded for room between ARMONDO and WINNING SUNSHINE which got its head on the side and hung in away from FORTUNE BOY. No action was taken. Near the 250 Metres, INDUBITABLY BLISS was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of FORTUNE BOY which was giving ground. After the 200 Metres, FORTUNE BOY, which was giving ground, was steadied to avoid the heels of ARMONDO which shifted out when barely clear. Shortly after this, ARMONDO shifted further, causing INDUBITABLY BLISS to be steadied when disappointed for running between that horse and WINNING SUNSHINE. The performance of HAPPY MOMENTUM, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, HAPPY MOMENTUM will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY MOMENTUM was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, HAPPY MOMENTUM was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant abnormalities. K S Yu (OUT OF MY WAY) reported in the Straight his mount hung in and because of this he rode it out hands and heels. CHEERFUL HEART, SIR OCTAVIUS and MIRACLES were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 April 2004)
HAPPY MOMENTUM, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. HAPPY MOMENTUM was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer T K Ng yesterday morning. He said at this time the horse was found to be lame in the right front leg. As previously advised, HAPPY MOMENTUM will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
