Racing Incident Report
PROGRESSING TIMES was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of ASSET PLAY which on jumping shifted in. ROMAN BOY was slow to begin. SNIPPETYIYEA began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, SHARE THE FUN was steadied away from the heels of ATHLETIC GOLD which was straightened after shifting in while hanging. Making the turn near the 700 Metres, SPARKY bumped the running rail and then hung out making the Home Turn. Also making the Home Turn, ROMAN BOY hung in. In the Straight when giving ground, RUN AND WIN hung out. G Schofield (SOUNDS BETTER), which was having its first start in blinkers tonight, said it was anticipated RUN AND WIN would lead the field and he should endeavour to follow that horse. He said SOUNDS BETTER began well, immediately travelled into the bridle, RUN AND WIN crossed to his outside, however, did not show enough pace to clear him and lead. He said in his opinion whilst the pace in the early stages was quick, it was in the best interest of his mount to ensure it maintained the fence to the inside of RUN AND WIN and therefore SOUNDS BETTER raced slightly further forward than was intended. PROGRESSING TIMES and SHARE THE FUN were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, PROGRESSING TIMES was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, PROGRESSING TIMES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after the race, SHARE THE FUN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was displaying signs of a heart irregularity. Before being allowed to race again, SHARE THE FUN will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SOUNDS BETTER, AMAZING and SPARKY were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SOUNDS BETTER was lame in the left front leg and SOLAR EMPIRE had bled from both nostrils. Before being allowed to race again, SOUNDS BETTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
