Racing Incident Report

SIXTY SECONDS began awkwardly. On jumping, GOLDEN MAPLE and NOBLE WIND bumped. As a result of this, NOBLE WIND then shifted out and caused some crowding to KNIGHT TEMPLAR on its outside. SPOKESMAN was a little slow to begin, then was bumped by BARRACUDA which began awkwardly and shifted in. At the 1200 Metres, OPTIC CHIEF and GOLDEN MAPLE were momentarily crowded for room inside KNIGHT TEMPLAR. Near the 1000 Metres, BARRACUDA dipped. In the early part of the Straight, OPTIC CHIEF was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOOD FRIENDS and tight inside SIGHT FIRST. F Coetzee (JOIN VICTORY) said the intention had been to ride the horse somewhere in about midfield. He said the horse began awkwardly and on landing made an abnormal noise. He said shortly after the start LUCKY KING and SIGHT FIRST both shifted ground in front of him which prevented him from going forward, he therefore elected to allow JOIN VICTORY to travel where it was comfortable in the run and this meant being a little further back than had been anticipated. He said JOIN VICTORY travelled nicely and when improving its position near the 300 Metres he had difficulty obtaining clear running between GOLDEN MAPLE and GOOD FRIENDS and because of this had to stop riding for some distance. He said after obtaining clear running near the 200 Metres, JOIN VICTORY closed the race off strongly. The explanation of F Coetzee was accepted. GOLDEN MAPLE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of GOLDEN MAPLE after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY KING and NOBLE WIND were sent for sampling.
