Racing Incident Report
BYRON was slow to begin. PLANET RULER began awkwardly and shifted out, causing WINTROW to be carried out across the running of TRIPLE EXPRESSO which as a result was checked. On jumping, CHIU CHOW BROTHER got its head up. In the early stages, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE got its head up and raced ungenerously, then in the Straight hung in badly and proved very difficult to ride. In the early part of the Straight, BYRON was held up and unable to obtain clear running between BEARCAT and PLANET RULER. After the 200 Metres, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE, which was continuing to hang in, was checked to avoid the heels of TRIPLE EXPRESSO which was steadied and shifted out away from BOBO WIN which shifted out slightly. For some distance after this, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE continued to race awkwardly when close to the heels of TRIPLE EXPRESSO and just prior to the winning post shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of PALETTE NATURAL. Throughout the race, PALETTE NATURAL raced wide and without cover. C Williams (HIMALAYA) said the horse began awkwardly, causing him to lose his right side stirrup. He said he was able to regain this stirrup about 150 Metres after the start, but it took him an additional 100 Metres to get his foot comfortable in the stirrup. He said because of this HIMALAYA got further back than he had hoped. He said coming into the Home Straight he was following SHAXI FORTUNE, he shifted to the outside of that horse to commence to improve between it and CHIU CHOW BROTHER. He said as he commenced to improve into this run, CHIU CHOW BROTHER started to shift in and caused him to be somewhat restricted for room and unable to continue pushing forward. He said CHIU CHOW BROTHER then shifted out, however, shortly afterwards again shifted in momentarily. He said near the 200 Metres he was able to commence to ride HIMALAYA along hands and heels, the horse responded well, then near the 100 Metres he shifted to the outside of the heels of BYRON, but at that stage DEVIL MOON commenced to shift in and this placed him at a disadvantage in riding his mount out to the line as he normally would. C Williams was told his explanation would be recorded. G Schofield (BOBO WIN) said in the early stages he went forward with PLANET RULER, however, was obliged to race three wide outside the lead. He said prior to making the turn out of the Back Straight PLANET RULER appeared to steady, he went forward in the hope of being able to clear that runner and shift across to race outside BEARCAT, however, PLANET RULER then again improved to hold its position to his inside. He said at that stage BOBO WIN was travelling too keenly for him to steady and shift back behind PLANET RULER to obtain cover. The explanation submitted by G Schofield was accepted. WINTROW and BEARCAT were sent for sampling.
