Racing Incident Report
BLACK KNIGHT was withdrawn on raceday morning on veterinary grounds (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, BLACK KNIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Just before the gates opened, ABLE EAGLE put its head down and broke open the front gates of its stall momentarily before the remaining gates opened. SERIOUS PLAY and SEASONS TREASURE began awkwardly and lost ground. EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT began awkwardly, then shortly afterwards was steadied away from the hindquarters of ABLE EAGLE and as a consequence raced in a rearward position. Near the 1100 Metres, AGILITY got its head on the side, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of COSMO SUCCESS. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, FORTUNE BOY, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted away from the rail. For some distance after this, FORTUNE BOY continued to race ungenerously. On straightening, SERIOUS PLAY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of EARL GREY, then near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of that horse to continue going forward. Throughout the race, ABLE EAGLE raced wide and without cover and after the 400 Metres gave ground and finished tailed out. ABLE EAGLE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of ABLE EAGLE after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, ABLE EAGLE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Following the race, W Woods (AGILITY) reported the horse was inclined to lay out throughout the race and in his opinion did not handle the Happy Valley track at its first attempt on the course. COSMO SUCCESS and SEASONS TREASURE were sent for sampling.
