Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, MY FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. The horse was trotted up and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. While parading behind the barriers, SAN LORENZO was kicked by AFRICAN FOREST. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. MY FORTUNE began awkwardly. On jumping, LUCKY STALLION shifted out and made contact with SAN LORENZO. GIANFANTI was slow to begin. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, HELENE PILLAGING, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of NOBLE MAN which shifted in when only just clear. After the 600 Metres, KIMBERLEY MINES was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY STALLION after being carried out by DASHING WINNER. Making the Home Turn, NOBLE MAN hung out. Making the turn and in the Straight, DASHING WINNER hung out. Shortly after straightening, BOLD WINNER was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of HELENE PILLAGING. Also shortly after straightening, MASTER GIGOLO was shifted to the inside of NOBLE MAN to obtain clear running, then near the 200 Metres shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of NOBLE MAN. Near the 300 Metres, BOLD WINNER was checked as a result of losing its running when disappointed for running between HELENE PILLAGING which shifted out when commencing to give ground and BUMPER BUMPER which got its head on the side and shifted in when being ridden along hands and heels. As the Stewards were of the opinion that by shifting ground, both HELENE PILLAGING and BUMPER BUMPER had contributed to BOLD WINNER losing its running, no action was taken. NOBLE MAN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, NOBLE MAN was examined by the Veterianry Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE MAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SAN LORENZO and BUMPER BUMPER were sent for sampling. After the race, HELENE PILLAGING was noted to have a discharge from the nose. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said an endoscopic examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Before being allowed to race again, HELENE PILLAGING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
