Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, DASHING WINNER got its head up, bounded in the air, shifted out and made contact with CLASSA WIN. DENDRANTHEMA LOVE got its head up on jumping and lost ground. JOYFUL SPIRIT began very awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall, causing A Marcus, its rider, to become unbalanced. FIVE GRAINS was slow to begin, was then ridden along for a short distance and after this went forward to lead and proved very difficult to settle and in the Straight gave ground. After the 1200 Metres, CALIFORNIA PRINCE and SUNBELL bumped. In the early stages, JOYFUL SPIRIT raced wide and without cover and near the 800 Metres was allowed to stride forward and cross to race outside FIVE GRAINS in the lead. After the 1000 Metres, FLORAL DYNAMITE got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of SUNBELL. Near the 800 Metres, AMBITIOUS TYCOON was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of JOYFUL SPIRIT which shifted in when only just clear. In the early part of the Straight, DASHING WINNER was held up and unable to improve between SUNBELL and FLORAL DYNAMITE. To obtain clear running after the 300 Metres, DASHING WINNER was shifted to the outside of FLORAL DYNAMITE. After the 200 Metres, STAY YOUNG was checked to avoid the heels of AMBITIOUS TYCOON (W H Lao) which had been hanging out and at this time when being ridden along shifted ground. In the circumstances, W H Lao was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. In the Straight, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE hung in. Also in the Straight, CALIFORNIA PRINCE hung in and proved difficult to ride. FIVE GRAINS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, FIVE GRAINS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FIVE GRAINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. STAY YOUNG, LUCKY PARADISE and AMBITIOUS TYCOON were sent for sampling.
