Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, COSMO SUCCESS became fractious and endeavoured to break through underneath the front gate of its stall. COSMO SUCCESS was removed from the barrier, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, COSMO SUCCESS will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. EUPHORIC KID was slow to begin. On jumping, BUMPER BUMPER and GREEN VACATION bumped as BUMPER BUMPER was carried out by COSMO SUCCESS. SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT began awkwardly, got its head up and shifted out, causing KONRAD THE GREAT to be carried out onto the hindquarters of GLORIOUS LIGHT and be checked. In the early stages, REWARD hung in. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GREEN VACATION was bumped on several occasions by SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT which had its head on the side and shifted in away from GLORIOUS LIGHT which was also shifting in. After this incident, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT was steadied away from the heels of GLORIOUS LIGHT which shifted in when only just clear. SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT then raced wide and without cover. For some distance after straightening, GLORIOUS LIGHT raced tight behind REWARD and inside SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT, then near the 250 Metres shifted out and bumped SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT. Approaching the 200 Metres, GREEN VACATION was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind GLORIOUS LIGHT and SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT, near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT, made contact with EUPHORIC KID (W Smith) and was struck over the nose by the whip of W Smith. After the 200 Metres, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT, which was giving ground, hung in and was steadied away from the heels of GLORIOUS LIGHT which as a result became unbalanced. Also after the 200 Metres, CORAJOSO was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of COSMO SUCCESS. Throughout the race, FORTUNE BOY hung out. Y T Cheng (GLORIOUS LIGHT) explained he had been instructed if the pace was not strong, he should go forward and shift in to race as close as possible to the rail. He said because of this after beginning well he allowed GLORIOUS LIGHT to travel forward and shift in to race outside BUMPER BUMPER in a forward position. GLORIOUS LIGHT and SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of GLORIOUS LIGHT and SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT after the race did not show any significant findings. BUMPER BUMPER and KONRAD THE GREAT were sent for sampling.
