Racing Incident Report

ARROGANCE was slow to begin. From a gate towards the outside, ROUND THE WORLD was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position close to the rail. At the 1300 Meters, CUPID was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of ROUND THE WORLD which in turn was awkwardly placed inside ABLE MARSHALL. Near the 1000 Metres and again near the 800 Metres, SHINING DRAGON got its head up and shifted out. After the 700 Metres, ROUND THE WORLD got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CZAR OF PRUSSIA. SPRINTER, which was following, was steadied in consequence and shifted out. After the 200 Metres, SHINING DRAGON shifted out. F Coetzee (BOLD VISION) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position, however, just prior to the gates opening BOLD VISION sat back, as a consequence did not begin as well as he would have liked and then from the outside barrier was obliged to race wide in the early stages and consequently got further back than was anticipated. CZAR OF PRUSSIA, SHINING DRAGON and LOYAL DEVOTION were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted ABLE MARSHALL had blood present in the left nostril. An endoscopic examination showed the horse's trachea to be clean and therefore the horse was not declared to be an official bleeder.
