Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, SOUNDS BETTER was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse had blood in its mouth as a result of having loosened a tooth. He said in his opinion SOUNDS BETTER was suitable to race. On jumping, DRAGON HORSE stumbled. STAR BLADE was slow to begin and then was bumped by CARRY THE NEWS which shifted in. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, BACCHUS hung out badly and ran off. The performance of BACCHUS was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BACCHUS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Near the 600 Metres, CARRY THE NEWS, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of STAR BLADE and then near the 250 Metres got its head on the side and was reluctant to shift out into clear running around the heels of DRAGON HORSE which was giving ground. For the major part of the race, SOUNDS BETTER hung out. BACCHUS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, BACCHUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a "roarer". MAJOR BEE, NOBLE HERO and TRUST ME were sent for sampling.
