Racing Incident Report
During the parade, ENVOY OF LIGHT kicked out with both hind legs and made contact with a rail in the Parade Ring. After arriving at the Start, the horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said it had sustained lacerations to both hind cannons and was lame in the left hind leg. Acting on the advice of the Veterinary Surgeon that ENVOY OF LIGHT was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being permitted to race again, ENVOY OF LIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, MAGIC TEMPLE lifted its front legs off the ground, was slow to begin and then began very awkwardly. As MAGIC TEMPLE has begun badly at all race starts, the horse will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test before being permitted to race again. LUCKY KING and SPLIT SECONDS were slow to begin. At the 600 Metres, SPLIT SECONDS was steadied away from the heels of BALL OF FIRE. Prior to straightening, TIGER DAN was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC STAR. At the 400 Metres, BALL OF FIRE was checked and shifted out when disappointed for running inside OLIVE OR TWIST, then after the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of FANTASTIC STAR into clear running, shortly afterwards shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of FANTASTIC STAR. MEHBOOB THE THIRD raced in a forward position but was three wide and without cover throughout. S Dye (KINGSTON GLORY) said he had ridden the horse in track work last Thursday when it worked in company. He said on this occasion despite the work being good KINGSTON GLORY proved difficult to settle which surprised him as the horse previously had relaxed nicely for him. He said he reported this to the trainer who advised him it was usual for the horse to pull in its work. He said today KINGSTON GLORY began well, immediately raced into the bridle and proved very difficult to settle and because of this when placed under pressure in the Straight failed to respond to his riding. He said at the 200 Metres he was momentarily crowded for room by TREASURE FIELD which improved on his inside, this caused him to shift out and make contact with SHENANEGAN, but in the circumstances was of no significance. KINGSTON GLORY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, KINGSTON GLORY was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said there were no significant findings. FANTASTIC STAR and KING OF FIELD were sent for sampling.
