Racing Incident Report
SALUZI was withdrawn on 9.12.03 on veterinary grounds (skin allergy) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FANTASTIC WIN. Before being allowed to race again, SALUZI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RISING WIN, which was fractious after being boxed, reared as the gates opened and bumped the outside gate of its stall. FABULOUS was slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, GREAT SENSATION was steadied when unable to hold its position between CHERISHED which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DASH FOR VICTORIES and SHOW BRAVELY which shifted in slightly. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHERISHED continued to race in an awkward position close to the heels of DASH FOR VICTORIES and near the 1300 Metres shifted out. This caused some inconvenience to GREAT SENSATION which was carried wider. Also after passing the winning post on the first occasion, RISING WIN, which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHERISHED, shifted out and bumped GREAT SENSATION. Near the 1300 Metres, SHOW BRAVELY, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted out away from the heels of ZERUBBABEL. This caused inconvenience to BROWN BEAUTY which was carried wider. Shortly after this, SHOW BRAVELY shifted back in to a position behind ZERUBBABEL and for some distance was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse. In the early part of the Straight, SHOW BRAVELY hung in, brushed the hindquarters of DASH FOR VICTORIES which in turn shifted ground and caused crowding to RISING WIN. Approaching the 200 Metres, BROWN BEAUTY was bumped by ZERUBBABEL which was shifting to the outside of FANTASTIC WIN to obtain clear running. Near the 200 Metres, SHOW BRAVELY was checked and CHERISHED crowded for room between DASH FOR VICTORIES which shifted out and GREAT SENSATION which shifted in. In the circumstances, as responsibility for the incident could not be attributed to one rider, no action was taken. After the 100 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN and ZERUBBABEL were crowded for room inside BROWN BEAUTY which got its head on the side and shifted ground while hanging in. Shortly after this, FANTASTIC WIN shifted in away from ZERUBBABEL and caused RISING WIN to be carried in, resulting in crowding on its inside to COUNTRY DRAGON which was checked. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Throughout the race, FANTASTIC WIN and FABULOUS raced wide and without cover. CHERISHED was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, CHERISHED was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. SHANGHAI FRIEND and ZERUBBABEL were sent for sampling.
