Racing Incident Report
Prior to being presented in the Parade Ring, the right hind plate of DANAMITE, which had loosened, was refitted. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said it was suitable to race. When the gates opened, KEY TO SUCCESS bounded in the air and lost ground. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, FORTE (R Fradd) got its head on the side, shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BOLD FIGHTER. Making the Home turn, FORTE again got its head on the side, hung out, shortly after straightening shifted out, clipped the heels of BOLD FIGHTER and fell. DANHERO, which was following, went over the fallen FORTE, was badly hampered and was then eased down. DANAMITE and SOLID CONTACT, which were also following, were hampered by the fallen FORTE. After the race, R Fradd was examined by the Club's doctor who said in his opinion he was suitable to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. Also after the race, FORTE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was mildly lame in the right front leg and also had blood present at the right nostril which originated from an abrasion and therefore the horse was not deemed to have bled. Before being allowed to race again, FORTE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Throughout the race, from the outside gate, GREEN DIAMOND raced wide and without cover. W C Marwing (JOYFUL SPIRIT) explained when previously racing over today's course and distance the horse had got well out of its ground, however, the intention today was to have the horse further forward if possible. He said JOYFUL SPIRIT did not begin cleanly, immediately was in a rearward position and then because of the fast pace at which today's race was run got much further back than anticipated. The explanation of W C Marwing was accepted. KEY TO SUCCESS and KINGSTON WINNER were sent for sampling.
