Racing Incident Report

TATTLETALE was slow to begin. AGILITY bounded in the air when the gates opened and lost ground. FULL TACK began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. In the early and middle stages, SING AND DRINK, which was to be ridden back from its wide gate today, proved difficult to settle. At the 900 Metres, STAR OF SHANTOU was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY which shifted in when barely clear. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, STAR OF SHANTOU was awkwardly placed on the outside of KIMBO KID and tight inside BACK SEAT DRIVER which had its head on the side and shifted in. At the 600 Metres, STAR OF SHANTOU was again awkwardly placed inside the heels of BACK SEAT DRIVER and shortly afterwards was steadied and shifted to the outside of that horse. After the 200 Metres, AUSPICIOUS ODYSSEY was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of STAR OF SHANTOU which shifted in. S Dye (SING AND DRINK) explained approaching the Home Turn he positioned himself to the inside of FULL TACK and was hopeful of getting clear running to the inside of that horse and on the outside of TATTLETALE. He said after straightening when he commenced to improve towards that position, TATTLETALE started to shift out, he called to that horse's rider on two occasions, however, it continued to shift ground, therefore he elected to steady and shift to the inside to obtain clear running. The explanation submitted by S Dye was accepted. STAR OF SHANTOU, BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY and AGILITY were sent for sampling.
