Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, DOUCAI, which had made contact with a rail on leaving the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. QUICK NEWS was slow to begin. SCREAMING EAGLE was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards blundered as a result of clipping the heels of CHING HOI BOY which on jumping got its head on the side and shifted in. When the gates opened, FLASH HARRY bounded in the air. KINGSTON GLORY began very awkwardly and became badly unbalanced. Shortly after the start, FORTUNE MASTER was checked when crowded for room between FLASH HARRY and ETERNAL FUN which after beginning awkwardly got its head up and shifted in abruptly. In the early stages, DOUCAI, which was being ridden to race back in the field, proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up, because of this near the 1000 Metres FORTUNE MASTER was shifted out from behind DOUCAI, causing SCREAMING EAGLE to be carried wider. After this, SCREAMING EAGLE was obliged to race wide and without cover. Also in the early stages, CHING HOI BOY proved difficult to settle. Near the 1000 Metres, FOREVER WIN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of DESERT STRIKE. Shortly after straightening, NORTHERN ROSE was steadied when disappointed for running inside FORTUNE SMILES. For some distance after this, NORTHERN ROSE was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind FORTUNE SMILES and inside GOODWOOD. At the 200 Metres, GOODWOOD, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied when crowded for room inside FLASH HARRY which had its head on the side and was inclined to lay in. ETERNAL FUN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, ETERNAL FUN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. DESERT STRIKE and QUICK NEWS were sent for sampling.
