Racing Incident Report
AURELIAN was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between MAJIN BUU and SIR OCTAVIUS which on jumping shifted out. On jumping, OPERA MAGIC shifted out and made contact with THE ACHIEVER. MY CHIEF was slow to begin, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle and near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from the heels of KEV BUSHIDO. After this, MY CHIEF continued to prove very difficult to settle and at the 700 Metres struck the heels of KEV BUSHIDO, dragging that horse down behind. In the early stages, SONGS OF THE SUN proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. Shortly after straightening, GRAND FIGHTER was steadied and shifted to the outside of MAJIN BUU to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, KEV BUSHIDO hung out. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied the riding of S Dye (SIR OCTAVIUS) over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was however reminded he should at all times ride his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the post wherever possible. J Quinn (GOT IT GOOD) said he had been instructed from the inside barrier to obtain a forward position. He said GOT IT GOOD jumped in the air at the start, he then rode along initially, however, when SONGS OF THE SUN had crossed him, he elected to steady his mount in the hope of obtaining a good trailing position. He said GOT IT GOOD made the turn at the 1000 Metres awkwardly and shifted out, causing him to steady it away from the heels of GLORY HERO, after this GOT IT GOOD commenced to over-race and his primary concern was to get the horse to relax in order to finish the race off. He said when doing this, he got further back than intended and this allowed GLORY HERO to shift to the fence in front of him, however, he was happy with the manner in which GOT IT GOOD was travelling. He said he maintained this position until after straightening where he immediately placed the horse under pressure and it responded fairly, then close to the line he became concerned that he would run onto the heels of SONGS OF THE SUN and therefore he did not ride his mount out right to the end of the race. J Quinn was told his ride particularly in the early and middle stages had caused concern to the Stewards and he should at all times ride in a manner which is not open to query. MY CHIEF was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, MY CHIEF was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. SIR OCTAVIUS, THE ACHIEVER and AMO were sent for sampling.
