Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, VENETIAN MASTER threw its head about and lost ground. CLAWS OF THUNDER began awkwardly. SUPER COMBED began awkwardly, causing S K Sit, its rider, to become unbalanced. Then in the early and middle stages, SUPER COMBED was obliged to race wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 1400 Metres, DISTINCTION proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up when close to the heels of MAMOUSKA. For the major part of the Straight, KASHMAC was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Near the 300 Metres, ON THE TEE was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between PLATINUM EXPRESS which shifted in slightly and CHATER LANE which was shifting to the outside of SUPER COMBED to find clear running. Over the concluding stages, MONZA KING shifted out. This caused some inconvenience to ON THE TEE. C Williams (KASHMAC) explained he was under strict instructions to wait until well after straightening before commencing to make his run. He said having in mind these instructions he did not go forward after straightening into a run which was available for him on the inside of ON THE TEE and outside CHATER LANE. The explanations tendered by C Williams were accepted. ENORMOUS WAY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of ENORMOUS WAY after the race did not show any significant findings. CHATER LANE and MAMOUSKA were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted HIGH SPIRITS had a laceration to the tongue.
