Racing Incident Report
ONE MORE ROUND was withdrawn on raceday morning on veterinary grounds (left fore tendon injury). Before being allowed to race again, ONE MORE ROUND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FINE SOCIETY was slow to begin. ONE STEP AHEAD began awkwardly. On jumping and in the early stages when proving difficult to settle, ASIA RISING got its head up on a number of occasions. When being steadied to a rearward position in the early stages, KIMBERLEY MINES got its head up on a number of occasions and proved very difficult to settle. At the 500 Metres, CHIU CHOW BROTHER was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY PARADISE. G Schofield (SHANGHAI KING) said from the outside draw he had intended to be in second half of the field. He said SHANGHAI KING began awkwardly, bounded in the air, bumped the inside gate of its stall and consequently then got further back than was intended. He said in the Straight SHANGHAI KING finished the race off nicely and raced in a manner which would indicate it would appreciate a further distance than today's 1400 Metres. FINE SOCIETY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, FINE SOCIETY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. FLORAL DYNAMITE and BEST LUCK were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 2 October 2003)
FINE SOCIETY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FINE SOCIETY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D A Hayes this morning and at this time was found to be significantly stiff in both hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, FINE SOCIETY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
