Racing Incident Report
FRAME'S PEOPLE was withdrawn on 20.6.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter NASA PEARL (A Marcus). Before being allowed to race again, FRAME'S PEOPLE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. The explanations tendered by S Dye and C Williams for being late into the Parade Ring were accepted. D Beasley was severely reprimanded for being late into the Parade Ring. SEASONS KNACK, which was standing awkwardly, was slow to begin, then in the early stages raced wide and without cover. CHINOOK began awkwardly and got its head up. At the 1400 Metres, WISE CHOICE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of HALO KING PRAWN. At the 1300 Metres, ACROBATIC was steadied away from the heels of CHINOOK (Apprentice P H Lo). Apprentice P H Lo was advised against shifting in at an acute angle. Near the winning post, NASA PEARL was inconvenienced by GLORIOUS LIGHT which shifted in away from SILENT PARTNER which shifted ground while hanging. S Dye (MARK OF EXCELLENCE) said the horse was slow to begin as is usual and immediately dropped to the rear, did not feel comfortable in its action, therefore at the 1400 Metres he shifted it away from the rail in the hope it would find better footing. He said after the 1200 Metres MARK OF EXCELLENCE dipped quite noticeably and he again shifted it wider into fresh ground, however, the horse making the turn at the 800 Metres hung out which was unusual as it had previously always shown a tendency to lay in. He said after the 500 Metres he pulled the whip on MARK OF EXCELLENCE in an endeavour to have it improve its position, the horse failed to respond and felt most awkward in its action, therefore he did not ride it out over the final 300 Metres. He said on pulling up he felt MARK OF EXCELLENCE still was not striding out as it should. MARK OF EXCELLENCE and GLORIOUS LIGHT were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. Following the race, MARK OF EXCELLENCE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings, however, the horse will be re-examined tomorrow. After the race, GLORIOUS LIGHT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. CLASSA VICTORY, LITTLE ELEPHANT and ACROBATIC were sent for sampling.
