Racing Incident Report

CLAWS OF THUNDER and GREAT SENSATION were slow to begin. On jumping, JADE RUYI shifted out. This caused some inconvenience to RENA'S WUNDERBAR. Shortly after the start, MONEY WINS lost its position when racing tight inside the heels of CHINESE KID which in turn was racing close to the heels of THISTLEJADE. In the early stages, GREAT SENSATION proved difficult to settle. At the 1600 Metres, TUSITALA got its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of THISTLEJADE. Near the 1500 Metres, CLAWS OF THUNDER was bumped and carried wider when DONGGUAN VICTORY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DASH FOR VICTORIES. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, CLAWS OF THUNDER got its head on the side, lay in and caused some crowding to DONGGUAN VICTORY. Shortly after this, DONGGUAN VICTORY lost its position between CLAWS OF THUNDER which continued to lay in and TUSITALA which shifted out. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Shortly after straightening, DONGGUAN VICTORY was disappointed for running between CLAWS OF THUNDER and TUSITALA. After the 400 Metres, D Beasley (OLIVE OR TWIST) dropped his whip. B Prebble (CHINESE KID) said he had been instructed to ride the horse where it was comfortable and he anticipated this would be in about 4th or 5th position. He said at the horse's only other race start over 2400 Metres, it had led and failed to finish the race off. He said today THISTLEJADE, which had drawn to his outside, began better than him, immediately crossed to race to his outside and then near the winning post on the first occasion shifted in further and steadied in front to allow runners to cross from the outside and this in turn caused CHINESE KID to be steadied and raced further back than was intended. VENETIAN MASTER, THISTLEJADE and OLIVE OR TWIST were sent for sampling.
