Racing Incident Report

CHAMP DE UNION and AMO were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, RARE was checked when crowded for room between LOVE ON EARTH and GOLDEN FARM which shifted out. Near the 600 Metres, SOLAR EMPIRE became unbalanced and was carried wider when crowded between GOOD FRIENDS and SONGS OF THE SUN which was taken out slightly by GOLDEN FARM. When this happened, THE ACHIEVER endeavoured to improve to the inside of SOLAR EMPIRE and to the outside of CHAMP DE UNION, was disappointed for this run and checked. AMO, which was following, was checked in consequence and this caused inconvenience to RARE which was shifted out. Near the 200 Metres, THE ACHIEVER had difficulty obtaining clear running between SOLAR EMPIRE and GOOD FRIENDS. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, AMO was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind WELL EXPRESS and inside JET JACKSON. After the 200 Metres, AMO was steadied and shifted to the outside of JET JACKSON to improve, then over the concluding stages had difficulty obtaining clear running between CHAMP DE UNION and MASTER YING. SOLAR EMPIRE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SOLAR EMPIRE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SOLAR EMPIRE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. CHAMP DE UNION, SONGS OF THE SUN and RARE were sent for sampling.
