Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, FANTASTICO, which had drawn 4, became fractious and broke through, causing damage to the front gates of its stall. FANTASTICO was quickly restrained and returned to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. To avoid an unreasonable delay to the start which would have been required if the front gates of stall 4 were to be repaired, FANTASTICO and horses drawn to its inside were moved in one stall. Before being allowed to race again, FANTASTICO will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. NEW DYNASTY began awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of TIM'S TONIC. SOUTHERN TREASURE began awkwardly and hit the inside gate of its stall. GLASGOW KISS, which had drawn the outside gate, began awkwardly and lost a little ground, then following this was shifted across behind runners to a position close to the rail but near the rear. At the 1000 Metres, LUCKY BIRD was steadied when crowded for room inside SOUTHERN TREASURE which itself was tight inside the heels of KING HORSE. No action was taken. Also at the 1000 Metres, GLASGOW KISS was steadied and shifted out abruptly away from the heels of CHAMPION BOY. At the 900 Metres, LUCKY BIRD was again steadied when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of SOUTHERN TREASURE. Making the turn after the 800 Metres, NEW DYNASTY got its head on the side and hung out. Throughout the race, WELL CONTEND hung in and in the Straight proved difficult to ride out. CHAMPION BOY, KING HORSE and PERFECT SCORE were sent for sampling.
