Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, PROFIT TREASURE refused to jump away with the field and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being permitted to race again, PROFIT TREASURE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. FABULOUS and MONEY WINS were slow to begin. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHERISHED, which was racing tight inside MONEY WINS and close to the heels of MY HEART, got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly when not clear of JADE RUYI which as a result lost its running and was checked severely. Although the check to JADE RUYI was one of some significance, in the opinion of the Stewards the incident was accidental and therefore no action was taken. Also after passing the winning post the first time, FANTASTIC WIN was hampered and MY HEART steadied when crowded for room by BLACK CARBINE (W M Lai) which shifted in before shifting back out to relieve the pressure he was applying to these runners. In the circumstances, W M Lai was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders. S Dye (TWEET) said he had been instructed to ride the horse midfield. He said TWEET began well and immediately travelled in a more forward position without being pressured to do so. G Schofield (FABULOUS) said he had ridden the horse in only one piece of work recently and he was of the opinion the horse was fancied by the stable. He said he had been instructed to ride FABULOUS behind the lead, however, the horse was slow to begin and then for some distance appeared awkward in its action, failed to muster speed and consequently got much further back than was anticipated. He said despite FABULOUS having previously won on wet ground, at no stage of tonight's race did it travel comfortably. FABULOUS, FANTASTIC WIN, JADE RUYI, CHERISHED and MAJESTIC WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
