Racing Incident Report
GREENMORE was withdrawn on 28.3.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SILENT PARTNER (Apprentice M W Leung). Before being permitted to race again, GREENMORE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. FLYING BISHOP began awkwardly and got its head up. On jumping, SEASONS KNACK shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of ENTERTAINING. At the 1400 Metres, SEASONS KNACK, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DIAMOND MOON. Near the 1000 Metres, MADE TO FIGURE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SEASONS KNACK. After the 1000 Metres, FLYING BISHOP got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of KINDRED SPIRITS. At the 200 Metres, SEASONS KNACK, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of SILENT PARTNER which shifted out when only just clear. Shortly after this, FLYING BISHOP became unbalanced when bumped by SILENT PARTNER (Apprentice M W Leung) which continued to shift out in an endeavour to find clear running. Apprentice M W Leung was advised to exercise more care. Mr G Lane, trainer of SILENT PARTNER, explained after the horse's most recent start over 2200 Metres on 19 February 2003, it was decided to freshen the horse up as in his opinion it did not stay the trip. He said the horse's work since being freshened had been satisfactory and it had had one trial on the All Weather surface which in his opinion was only fair. Mr Lane attributed today's improved performance to the horse being freshened and dropping back in the distance to the 1600 Metres. M Walker (SEASONS KNACK) said he had ridden the horse in a turf gallop at the Riverside last Thursday and on that occasion the horse hung. He said today he was instructed to ride SEASONS KNACK a little further forward than it was at its last start and accordingly he rode his mount along in the early stages. He said SEASONS KNACK shortly after the start commenced to over-race, hung in and generally proved difficult to ride. He said he became concerned as far as the 600 Metres that the horse would not figure in the finish because of the manner in which it raced in the early stages. SEASONS KNACK was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SEASONS KNACK was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. D Dunn (MULTIWINNING) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse at the rear as is usual. He said MULTIWINNING began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the outside of its gate. He said he then shifted in behind runners near the rear, however, MULTIWINNING immediately commenced to over-race, but this was of no concern to him as the horse had previously shown this trait and still managed to finish its race off. He said when placed under pressure after straightening, MULTIWINNING failed to respond and was most disappointing. MULTIWINNING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. MULTIWINNING was examined by the Veterinary Officer following the race. An endoscopic examination was carried out. This showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, MULTIWINNING will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. MORPHEOUS and SILENT PARTNER were sent for sampling.
