Racing Incident Report
COMPANION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SUPER SPRINT. OCTA LUCKY STAR bounded in the air at the start. SAN LORENZO, which was standing badly, was slow to begin. CHATER JADE, which had drawn an outside barrier, was immediately steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners to take up a position on the rail but at the rear. Near the 800 Metres, when being steadied to avoid the heels of GRAND FIGHTER, SIR OCTAVIUS got its head up, shifted in abruptly and caused crowding to SAN LORENZO which as a result lost its position. Near the 800 Metres, SONGS OF THE SUN, which when being ridden with cover tonight, proved difficult to settle and got its head up when close to the heels of VISION FIRST. CHATER JADE, which was following, was inconvenienced and got its head up. Also near the 800 Metres, COMPANION became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of OCTA LUCKY STAR which itself was being steadied in an endeavour to shift in and find cover behind VISION FIRST. Near the 600 Metres, OCTA LUCKY STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of VISION FIRST. For a considerable distance after straightening, SONGS OF THE SUN was held up and unable to obtain clear running when behind SUPER SPRINT and inside COMPANION. To obtain a run, SONGS OF THE SUN was shifted to the inside of SUPER SPRINT at the 200 Metres. In the early part of the Straight, SOLAR EMPIRE was held up behind SOUNDS BETTER and inside GRAND FIGHTER, then just prior to the winning post was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOUNDS BETTER. Because of this, SOLAR EMPIRE was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. For some distance after the 300 Metres, SAN LORENZO had difficulty obtaining a clear run between VISION FIRST and OCTA LUCKY STAR. OCTA LUCKY STAR, SOUNDS BETTER and SAN LORENZO were sent for sampling.
