Racing Incident Report
CALVADOS was presented in the Parade Ring with a ring bit which was not part of the horse's approved gear. The ring bit was removed prior to CALVADOS leaving the Parade Ring. Trainer B K Ng was fined $2,000 for presenting CALVADOS in the Parade Ring with other than its approved gear. When the gates opened, DANELAW got its head up and was slow to begin. SPORT SEEKER, which was standing with its head turned to the left hand side, began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the outside of its gate, then in the early stages was obliged to race wide without cover. PREDATOR also began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its gate. Then in the early stages, PREDATOR, which had drawn the outside barrier, was steadied and taken back to be with the rear but without cover. In the early stages, KASHMAC proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. Near the 700 Metres, PREDATOR was bumped by UNITY which shifted out. Near the 200 Metres, UNITY was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between BUTTERFORD which was giving ground and TRULY HAPPY which shifted out. Near the 100 Metres, DANELAW was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running inside TRULY HAPPY. Apprentice K T Yeung (UNITY) explained near the 1000 Metres despite his urging, the horse was not able to maintain its position outside WINNING ASSOCIATES. BUTTERFORD was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, BUTTERFORD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. SPORT SEEKER, TWEET and KASHMAC were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted TRULY HAPPY had sustained a laceration to its right fore fetlock and that MONEY STAR had bled from both nostrils.
