Racing Incident Report
On jumping, LUCKSWELL bounded in the air, shifted out and bumped HIMALAYA. GREENMORE and SUPER BLITZ were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, GOLD FIELD, which had initially been carried out by SURVEYOR, was checked to avoid the heels of SUPER GOAL STRIKER which got its head on the side and shifted in. In the early stages, HIMALAYA proved difficult to settle. G Schofield (VISORHILL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HIMALAYA, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. G Schofield was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 16 March 2003 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension is to take immediate effect. From about the 300 Metres until after the 200 Metres, CHIU CHOW BROTHER was unable to obtain clear running between SUPER GOAL STRIKER and LUCKSWELL, both of which were giving ground. After the 200 Metres, GREENMORE was momentarily steadied and shifted to the outside of DANAMITE to obtain a clear run. In the Straight, DANAMITE hung in. Y T Cheng (MOMENTUM) explained he had been instructed by Mr D A Hayes, trainer of MOMENTUM, to lead on the horse today. He said he was told to make sure the horse was well warmed up behind the barriers, then when the gates opened ride it along and lead if possible. He said MOMENTUM began fairly, he rode it along in accordance with the instructions and was able to lead comfortably. HIMALAYA was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of HIMALAYA after the race did not show any significant findings. VISORHILL and DANAMITE were sent for sampling.
