Racing Incident Report
ARRECTIS AURIBUS was slow to begin. ASCOT FANS began very awkwardly and got its head up. From outside barriers, ALL WIN and FIRST KNIGHT were immediately steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners to race close to the rail. In the early stages, ACCLAMATION proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions near the 1000 Metres got its head up. After the 600 Metres, ACCLAMATION was steadied away from the heels of SONG FOR SZESZE. At the 200 Metres, SONG FOR SZESZE was bumped by MILLENNIUM SUPREME which shifted out to go forward. F Coetzee (MILLENNIUM SUPREME) explained after obtaining clear running near the 200 Meters he felt the horse would go on and win, however, when it was placed under pressure, it was reluctant to run past WHATA FEELING on its inside and this allowed SONG FOR SZESZE to again make ground on its outside. He said near the winning post when SONG FOR SZESZE headed him, MILLENNIUM SUPREME was reluctant to stride out. FANTASTIC HORSE and ASCOT FANS were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FANTASTIC HORSE after the race did not reveal any significant findings. After the race, ASCOT FANS, which was eased down over the concluding stages, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said ASCOT FANS was significantly lame in the left fore fetlock. Before ASCOT FANS can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WHATA FEELING and SONG FOR SZESZE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported he had conducted an endoscopic examination of ACCLAMATION which had performed poorly. He said this showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ACCLAMATION will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
