Racing Incident Report
On jumping, SHOGUN blundered. ELVIS bounded in the air at the start. Shortly after the start, ELVIS and FIRST KNIGHT were steadied when crowded for room between SUNNY DESERT and FORTUNE MAPLE which shifted in. From a wide gate, SUPER BEST was immediately steadied and shifted behind runners close to the rail. Near the 1000 Metres, ETERNAL START was steadied when crowded for room between SUNNY DESERT and HIN YUEN'S UNICORN which momentarily got its head on the side and shifted in. When HIN YUEN'S UNICORN relieved the pressure to ETERNAL START, it shifted out and carried AFICIONADO wider. For some distance after straightening, SUNBELL was held up behind SHOGUN and tight inside FORTUNE MAPLE (G Schofield). After the 200 Metres, SUNBELL obtained clear running to the inside of SHOGUN which shifted out. Whilst the Stewards could not be satisfied the right elbow of G Schofield contacted any part of O Doleuze (SUNBELL) when riding that horse in behind SHOGUN, they did advise him that he should refrain from the practice of riding with a raised elbow. C Soumillon (SING AND DRINK) said the horse raced greenly throughout and in the early stages was inclined to shift out away from runners to its inside and then after obtaining cover at about the 900 Metres, the horse was reluctant to hold its position. He said when he shifted out to improve after the 600 Metres SING AND DRINK again commenced to shift out away from runners to its inside, made the Home Turn very awkwardly and then in the Straight SING AND DRINK shifted ground on a number of occasions. He said when riding SING AND DRINK in its track work, the horse had shown the same greenness to him. SING AND DRINK was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of SING AND DRINK after the race did not show any significant findings. SUNBELL and SHOGUN were sent for sampling.
